This deliciously smelling recipe was passed on to us from the breeder of all 3 of my dogs, Kabu Siberians. It not only smells amazing, but tastes delicious to our human taste buds too! A brownie that you can actually share with your canine pooch? What?!
Canned pumpkin is low in cholesterol, saturated fats and sodium. It's also a good source of Vitamin E, Magnesium, Phosphorous and dietary fiber! Because pumpkin is rich in dietary fibers, it's an amazing natural ingredient to help with your dog's digestive system from diarrhea to constipation, absorbing excess water from the stool (diarrhea) or softening it from an upset stomach. Wouldn't you prefer spoonfuls of pumpkin over a powdery pill of Imodium? ... And, that's why we call it "poo-glue"!
This year, we decided to spend some quality pack time in Ko.nut bakery harvesting "bat droppings" for the season. We even created our own nikosjournal label for it and agreed to share it. In addition to our bat droppings, it was also time to harvest the Dead Cat Bones for the season and hand it out to our canine friends. Both our Bat Droppings and Dead Cat Bones are made primarily with pumpkin so the canine family can enjoy trick-or-treating too - how appropriate! :)

RECIPE: KABU'S PUMPKIN BROWNIES
INGREDIENTS
2 Large Eggs
1 cup (250mL) Canned pure pumpkin1/3 cup (85mL) Canola oil
2 tablespoons honey
1 1/4 cups flour (whole wheat/oat or some of each)
2 tablespoons Ground flax seed powder or oat bran
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
1 teaspoon of baking soda
Pinch of salt for rising
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF
2. In a meidum sized bowl, mix eggs, pumpkin, canola oil and honey.
3. Add flax seed, cinnamon (optional), baking soda, flour and salt.
4. Stir until mixture is smooth.
5. Scrape batter into an 8x8 baking pan sprayed with non-stick spray (or greased).
6. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown and springy to touch.
7. Cut into squares and serve (humans & canines).
